Did you know there are many ways to meditate?

It is 2021. In today’s world, most people are sick and tired of the constant restrictions to our lives, due to the Covid outbreak. If that wasn’t enough to stress you out, working 9-5 and being stuck in traffic, or traveling long distances via public transportation, would have surely thrown you off balance and into a negative state of being. The ever-present voice in our head, also called the ego, does not help with any of these situations, as it continues to stay in a state of fear and worry, draining us even more.

If there’s ever a time to disconnect from the chaos of the world, this would be it. Along with other spiritual practices, meditation can very well be the answer to our emotional and physical problems. It is an ancient tradition, passed down through generations. But do not be mistaken, as meditation is not about faith. Even though it ties to many religious teachings, meditation is about raising our consciousness, attaining inner peace, and quieting that voice in our heads, the voice of fear.

Meditation will not only help you with stress, fear, and worry, but it will connect you with your true self. The silent watcher of your life, is hidden beneath the ego. This is our higher self, always present, but rarely heard.

Meditation can take you on a journey through the vast cosmos, your inner self, or ground you into your body, to live in the present moment. Many of us don’t even know how to live in the NOW. We are either living in the past or the future.

Wonder is what meditation is about. It is a wonder to experience the vastness of space within your consciousness, to feel the blissful light of awareness bathing every cell in your body, to experience waves of love and compassion, and more.” - Mira Dessy, a meditation author and holistic nutritionist.

Keep on reading to learn a bit more about a few different ways to meditate.

1. Music Meditation

This is one of the simplest ways to meditate. It is flexible for meditation beginners and those who are well seasoned in their practice. Music has wonderful benefits for stress management and overall health. It lifts your mood, calms you down, and creates stress-inducing changes. As they say, music is a healer. Simply put, it is audible energy. These frequencies penetrate the physical body, thus healing and attuning it to a more balanced state of being.

Finding the best kind of music for this type of mediation is important. What you want is something calm and soothing, such as the very warm tuning of 432hz or the always healing Solfeggio Frequencies. Sounds of nature are also very beneficial, as they help to balance the brain hemispheres. If you are a meditation teacher, practitioner, or an energy healer, then royalty free meditation music is perfect for you. It is a type of music license that allows you to use music legally in various commercial ways. You can create your own guided meditations and sell them to your clients, or anywhere else in the world. 2. Movement Meditation

There’s something to be said about gentle movements of the body. Qigong, Tai Chi, and yoga, are all forms of active meditations. Even walking through the woods can be a meditative experience.

The ancient Chinese practice of Qigong, is a very healing and balancing technique that involves controlled breathing, with movement and meditation. It teaches discipline, leading to tranquility and self-awareness, along with releasing and shifting energy within our body and aura. This leads to decreasing anxiety, depression, stress, and other emotions that are of a lower vibration.

3. Mindfulness meditation

This form of meditation is great if you want to be more aware of your thoughts. Most of us have been living our lives on autopilot, not taking any responsibility for what happens in our minds. Rather than going on a loop of negative thinking, or a downward spiral of the ego’s wants, we pay very close attention to the thoughts that emerge. We do not become involved with them, but merely acknowledge them for what they are, without any judgments. This way, we can focus our minds on the present moment, helping us accept our thoughts and feelings. Once you become aware that your thoughts are not who you are, it is easier to live a much happier and stress-free life. Part of the problem is not living in “the now.” Depression comes from living in the past, while anxiety comes from an unknown future. Living in the present moment is where we are positive and happy.

There are various ways of doing this meditation, but it mainly involves being aware of the mind, body, and breath. Before long, you too can slow down those racing thoughts.

Wrapping up

These are just a few examples of how you can use meditation to bring balance to your life. In this human moment of uncertainty, it is the perfect time to go within and take responsibility for how you feel and think. At the end of the day, it is your choice.
